CRITERIA

Notes on what we are looking for in a successful blog:

  • Your own new, original work (No plagiarism, No AI, Not someone else's work, Not previously published, Not submitted to another publication, Not worked on for another class)

  • Newsworthy (Timeliness, Proximity, Impact, Relevance, Solve a problem, Crisis, Prominence, Human Interest)

  • PR Related & of interest to PR Students

  • Innovative, Fresh, Interesting

  • Use credible sources

  • Use some kind of visual and source it (Photo, graphic, illustration, etc.)

  • Citing your sources and crediting your images

  • Conversational with basic journalistic principles (AP style)

  • Creative in setup (use Subheads, Bullets, Infographic and/or Charts)

  • Turn around time is 1 1/2 to 2 weeks (Including approval, editing, writing, and final editing & approval. Timeline/Deadline will be provided upon approval of story idea)

  • Deadlines must be met to meet your assigned publishing date.

  • Word Count: 500 - 1,000 (Quality over quantity)
